The story of Wilcox Companies began in 1978 when Paul Wilcox took a bold step into the transportation industry by purchasing his first truck as an Owner-Operator. This marked the beginning of a journey fueled by hard work, dedication, and a commitment to quality service.
In 1983, Paul expanded his horizons by becoming a freight broker with a nationwide brokerage company while still owning his own equipment. This move laid the foundation for what would become a family legacy in the freight and logistics sector. In the spring of 1988, Paul’s son, Bill, joined the team as a driver, marking the start of the second generation in the family business.
In the years that followed, Bill transitioned from driving to working in the office, taking on the role of dispatcher. In 1993, Paul founded a new company with its own authority, further expanding the family’s reach in the industry. By 2002, both companies had grown significantly, leading to the establishment of Wilcox Enterprises, Inc. and Northern Logistics, Inc.
In 2003, Paul chose to sell the business to Bill and his wife, Kris, a decision that ensured the company would stay within the family and continue to flourish. Under their stewardship, the company embarked on a trajectory of growth, expanding the brokerage and steadily increasing the size of the fleet and staff over the next decade.
The third generation joined the ranks in 2015 when Bill and Kris’s sons, Shawn and Alex, entered the business, bringing fresh energy and ideas to the operation. In 2020, to better streamline operations, Wilcox Brothers Transportation, Inc. was formed to take on all the over-the-road operations for its well-established customer base. This move allowed the company to enhance its service, delivery and focus on its core strengths.
